Thank you for booking your visit to the police museum. There is some important information below that you need to read prior to your visit.

Face Coverings

Please note that face coverings are required to be worn at all times inside the police museum in line with government guidelines and regulations.

Prior to Booking

Group Sizes

The museum has reduced it tour capacity in order to facilitate social distancing. Each tour will include up to six visitors. A maximum of 6 people in one group may book together who may come from 2 family bubbles who must socially distance as a group.

Prior to arrival

Please make yourself familiar with the below information.

Please note there are no toilets in the museum so please make sure you visit the public toilets if necessary, in City Park.

When you arrive

Please arrive at the museum a few minutes prior to your given timeslot a few and wait to be invited in by one of our front of house volunteers. The doors to the building will be closed.

At your timeslot, your groups will be invited inside the building foyer and the doors will be closed behind you.

Please make sure that you are wearing a face covering.

Please wait in the foyer to enter the museum galley and remain socially distanced with your group 2 metres from museum volunteers or other groups at all times.

You will be asked to watch a Covid Safety Video in the foyer before entering the gallery.

We will take digital temperature checks of all visitors before entering the gallery, using a thermal sensor held by staff from a distance one at a time. Anybody with a high temperature or displaying symptoms of Covid 19 will be denied entry into the museum.

You will be asked to enter the gallery where you will check in and meet your guide.

Track and Trace

Visitors pre booking details will be confirmed at the reception desk and track and trace information will be provided by all visitors.

Museums are now required to display an NHS Test & Trace QR code, and ask customers to check-in using the app, or to take contact information from every visitor aged over 16.

To help us admit you into our attractions as efficiently as possible, it would be very much appreciated if all visitors in your party aged 16+ could check-in using the QR code at the reception desk.

If you do not have the app, our team will take your contact information at the desk, so please have your phone number and your order reference ready to speed up this process.

Please be aware that the provision of contact information is compulsory for all members of your group over 16years of age.

An initial Health and Safety Briefing will take place and your group will be allocated a guide.

During your visit, please stay with you guide at all times and follow their instructions. There will a sanitiser station at the entrance to the museum gallery and at various locations on your tour. Please make sure that you use the sanitiser at each point of your journey in the museum.

You will also be asked not to touch anything in the museum during your visit unless told to do so by museum staff.

Social distancing

Please make sure that you socially distance  as a group whilst in the museum following the instructions of your guide at all times. In the gallery there are markings on the floor to assist with social distancing.

Throughout your experience in the museum, you will meet several of our friendly staff. All our staff will be trained to uphold our safety procedures and will be happy to answer any questions or note any suggestions you have.

There is wheelchair and pushchair access to the gallery and the cells. However due to the existence of steep steps the court room can not be accessed by wheelchairs or pushchairs.
