About the event

Will justice be served? Only you can decide.

Join The Bradford Police Museum for The Final Step - a powerful, immersive Trial by Jury experience set in Victorian Bradford in 1888, based on a real case that shocked the city.

When a woman is found dead in her home, suspicion quickly falls on her husband. But as witnesses are called and evidence is examined, the truth becomes far less clear. In a courtroom filled with whispers, accusations, and doubt, justice hangs in the balance.

You can take part as a jury member, seated in a real Victorian courtroom, hearing testimony and weighing the evidence before delivering your verdict - or attend as a court spectator, watching the drama unfold as the trial reaches its tense conclusion. Spectators are still part of the experience and will be invited to cast their verdict on the fate of the accused.

What to Expect

Trial by Jury: The Final Step is an immersive, live courtroom experience set in Victorian Bradford.

You’ll be welcomed into a real historic courtroom, where the museum’s volunteer actors recreate a murder trial based on a true 19th-century case. Through witness testimony, legal arguments, and dramatic courtroom exchanges, the story unfolds piece by piece.

If you attend as a Jury Member, you’ll take an active role in the trial - listening carefully to the evidence before delivering a final verdict. If you attend as a court spectator, you’ll observe the full proceedings from the gallery and still have the opportunity to cast your verdict using interactive technology.

Doors open at 1:15pm. The event runs as a continuous performance and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Once the trial begins, late entry will not be permitted, so please arrive by 1:45pm to be seated before the 2pm start.

The performance includes mature themes, strong language, and references to sexual content. We recommend the event for ages 12+, Court Spectators and 16+, Jury Members.

Before You Visit

Please note that the courtroom is located within a historic building and is not wheelchair accessible. There are no toilet facilities within the museum, so we recommend using the public toilets in City Park before your visit. As this is a real historic courtroom, it can feel quite drafty, particularly in colder weather, so we suggest dressing warmly. Our museum volunteers will be on hand throughout your visit and are always happy to help with any questions.
